Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Held at NCCP, Lahore

The National Council of Churches in Pakistan (NCCP) hosted the Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity at its Ecumenical Center in Lahore. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an ecumenical Christian observance in the Christian calendar that is celebrated internationally. This significant annual event, observed worldwide, brought together leaders from diverse Christian denominations to pray and reflect on the unity of the Church.

The theme for this year, "Do you believe this?" from John 11:26. The theme inspired participants to renew their faith in the resurrection and the promise of eternal life.

The following distinguished representative of diverse christian denomination included:

  • Rev. Reuben Qamar, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan
  • Fr. James Chanan – OP, Senior Dominican Priest in Pakistan
  • Fr. Paulos – OP, Head of the Dominican Order of the Catholic Church in Pakistan
  • Rev. Fiaz Manuwar, Representative of the Church of Pakistan,
  • Rev. Obaid Khokhar, Deputy General Secretary, NCCP
  • Rev. Qaiser Nadeem, Church of Pakistan, Lahore Diocese
  • Rev. Irshad Gill, General Secretary, Presbyterian Church of Pakistan
  • Fr. Rev. Lazer Aslam – OP, representing the Capuchin Order of the Catholic Church in Pakistan
  • Rev. Ajmad Niamat, Coordinator, Ecumenical Solidarity Committee Lahore

The gathering highlighted the collective commitment of these leaders to strengthen unity, love, and mutual respect among Christian communities in Pakistan. Each leader shared reflections on the theme, emphasizing the importance of coming together in prayer to address shared challenges and promote peace.

The event concluded with a moment of silent prayer for Christian unity and a shared commitment to continue building bridges of understanding and collaboration across denominations.

The NCCP expresses heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and contribution to the success of this meaningful event.
