NCCP Prays for and Urges Peace in Bangladesh

In response to the request of NCC-Bangladesh, the National Council Churches in Pakistan has issued a statement of solidarity and support for the people of Bangladesh. After the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh Army announced to form an Interim Government to oversee the country until national elections are held.

NCC-Pakistan expressed deep concern over the violence that has erupted during this period, particularly the attacks on worship places and offices, including those belonging to the Christian community. The Council condemned these acts and called for prayers for the protection of all minorities, including Christians, who have been affected by the unrest.

NCC-Pakistan emphasized the importance of the swift return to civilian rule and the establishment of a stable, democratic government. They commended the efforts of the students and other parties involved in the protest movement for their commitment justice and peaceful solutions.

“We stand in unwavering solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh during these challenging times,”  the statement read. “We will continue to pray for the safety and security of all the people in Bangladesh, for the swift restoration of people and justice, and for the success of the Interim Government in steering the nation towards a stable and democratic future.”

NCC-Pakistan also called on the international community, including the United Nations, to intensify their efforts in providing humanitarian aid and support to Bangladesh as the country navigates its political and economic transitions.

The Council concluded by reaffirming its commitment to supporting justice, peace and human dignity in Bangladesh and across the globe.
